چکیده

Abstract The Consecutive Transients (CT) method is used for estimating the characteristic times of ionization, charge exchange and confinement within plasma a Charge Breeder Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source (CB-ECRIS). reveals differences in between different source configurations, with K 9+ breeding efficiencies 8.9 % 20.4 %, allows qualitative explanation improved efficiency. increase efficiency accompanied by decrease ionization time low states, high an overall ion time, which increases non-linearly state. exhibits minimum near state 8+ , indicating neutral density core. CT-method yields distribution possible n e (E ) corresponding to spatial ions. results hint at non-uniform electron energy as well nested-layer populations — hot dense ions

Charge Exchange Ions Produced by an Ion Propulsion System

In this paper, we present observations of charge exchange ions generated by the ion propulsion system (IPS) on the Deep Space One (DS1) spacecraft . We show that the equilibrium flux of charge exchange ions correlates well with IPS thrust levels, but that the flux requires approximately 4 hours to build up to equilibrium value after the start of IPS operation. In time of flight mass spectra, th...

Studies of charge exchange in symmetric ion–ion collisions

We have measured the total cross sections for single charge exchange in He– He, Ne–Ne and Ar–Ar collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 1.8–14.8, 1.8–10.8 and 2.8–7.3 keV, respectively, using an intersecting beam technique. The results for He–He collisions are compared with existing measurements and calculations. For Ne–Ne and Ar–Ar the measured cross sections are compared with results from ne...

Charge exchange in relativistic heavy ion collisions

Elastic charge-exchange in relativistic heavy ion collisions is responsible for the non-disruptive change of the charge state of the nuclei. We show that it can be reliably calculated within the eikonal approximation for the reaction part. The formalism is applied to the charge-pickup cross sections of 158 GeV/nucleon Pb projectiles on several targets. The relative contributions of pionand rho-...

Charge exchange in collisions of beryllium with its ion.

Close-coupling calculations of the resonance and near resonance charge exchange in ion-atom collisions of Be at low and intermediate energies are presented. Accurate ab initio calculations are carried out of the Born-Oppenheimer potentials and the non-adiabatic couplings that are due to the finite nuclear masses and drive the near resonance charge exchange. We show that the near resonance charg...
